Another update – Saturday night live

From our Esteemed Wedding Supervisor and Official Troubadour Aly Sanchez comes the following missive:

Wedding Party at Q-Bar:

For Saturday evening Kate and Stephen have reserved space at the Q Bar to celebrate with family and friends. This is an urban upscale type bar with several adjoining rooms; the party will be in the Wine Room and Media Room. The band for this night is N.Y. Louie, who typically does a nice mix of jazz, funk, and salsa. The bar serves dinner and snacks (nice gastropub fare) and the reserved rooms include several sit-down tables. This event is freeform for arrival time, however wedding party participants plan to arrive around 8pm (bar opens at 4pm and typically stays open until 12:30am or 1:30am).

Q Bar is at the Hotel Albuquerque, which is near Old Town (where the ceremony and lunch are located). A map is at: http://www.hhandr.com/albuquerque_maps.php (address is 800 Rio Grande Boulevard NW). The bar entrance is to the right/south of the main hotel entrance. Several wedding guests are also staying at Hotel Albuquerque and it is a good option for those who do not want to drive home after the festivities.

A few important notes about this venue… All guests must be 21 or older and everyone will be carded at the door — so don’t forget your ID. Q Bar has an enforced dress code and does not allow shorts or white tennis shoes/sneakers or sandals, no baggy/ripped jeans on guys, nor white tee shirts, no baseball caps or athletic apparel. The party is cash bar and the Q Bar is known for the quality of mixed cocktails. They have a good selection of beer and wine by the glass.

Attention – Update!

I’ve just returned from Albuquerque, and need to inform our wedding guests of an important and heretofore unknown development. The Q Bar (in the Hotel Albuquerque), where the “after party” will be, has a dress code they describe as “business casual.” This was explained to me as meaning “no sneakers, no sandals.” Jeans seemed fine. FYI. More news as it develops.

Welcome!

If you’re reading this message, you probably received an invitation to our wedding. We hope you come! There’s a good bit of information here, and we’ll be adding more as the wedding gets closer. In the meantime, if you have questions about the wedding, please email Kate (kate.shuster [at] gmail.com) or Stephen (stephen.stetson [at] yahoo.com).

Briefly, here’s what you need to know: the ceremony will be at the Old Town Gazebo (where Kate’s wanted to get married since she was old enough to consider such a prospect) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After the ceremony, we’ll eat at La Placita, a restaurant in one of Albuquerque’s oldest and most historic haciendas. In the afternoon, guests are invited to explore Old Town and Albuquerque on their own. In the evening, anyone who is interested can meet up for the “after party” at the Q Bar at the Hotel Albuquerque.

We’ve invited all of our very closest relatives and coolest friends, and look forward to the wedding as a celebration of our love for each other and for all of you.
